1. Introduction

Metro Honda ("Metro Honda," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes the categories of personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the rights and choices available to you, including specific rights granted to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA").

This Policy applies to information collected through our website, by phone, in person at our dealership, through direct mail or email campaigns, and through third-party advertising and lead-generation partners we work with.

2. Categories of Personal Information We Collect

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have collected the following categories of personal information from or about consumers:

  • Identifiers: name, postal address, email address, telephone number, IP address, and device identifiers.
  • Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80): driver's license number, signature, vehicle ownership and trade-in information, insurance information, and financial account information when you apply for financing.
  • Protected classifications: age and date of birth (collected when required for credit, lease, or registration purposes).
  • Commercial information: vehicles purchased, leased, or considered; service history; and transaction records.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity: browsing history, search history, page interactions, and information regarding your interaction with our website, advertisements, and emails.
  • Geolocation data: general location derived from IP address or, with your consent, precise location from your device.
  • Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information: recorded calls, security camera footage at our dealership, and chat transcripts.
  • Professional or employment-related information: employer name and income (collected for credit applications).
  • Inferences: profiles reflecting your preferences, characteristics, and predispositions related to vehicles and financing.
  • Sensitive personal information: Social Security number, driver's license number, financial account information, and precise geolocation, where applicable. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you and only use it for the purposes permitted under CPRA without an opt-out.

3. Sources of Personal Information

We collect personal information from the following sources:

  • Directly from you when you contact us, visit our dealership, complete a form, request a quote, schedule service, or apply for financing.
  • Automatically from your device when you visit our website (cookies, pixels, log files, analytics).
  • From service providers, lenders, credit bureaus, the Honda manufacturer, vehicle history providers, and marketing partners.
  • From publicly available sources and government records (for example, DMV records).

4. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiries, provide quotes, and process vehicle sales, leases, financing, and service.
  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud.
  • To comply with federal and California legal obligations, including FCRA, ECOA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and DMV requirements.
  • To send you marketing communications about vehicles, offers, service reminders, and dealership events (subject to your preferences).
  • To personalize and improve our website, advertising, and customer experience.
  • To evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information

We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the business purposes described above:

  • The Honda manufacturer, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and Honda Financial Services.
  • Lenders, finance companies, and credit reporting agencies.
  • Service providers (technology, hosting, analytics, advertising, communications, customer-relationship management, call recording, and lead-management vendors).
  • Insurance companies, extended warranty providers, and vehicle history reporting services.
  • Government agencies (DMV, taxing authorities, law enforcement) when required by law.
  • Professional advisors and parties to a corporate transaction.

"Sales" and "Sharing" under California law: We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. However, our use of online advertising cookies and similar technologies (for example, Google, Meta, and other advertising partners) may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to opt out of these activities at any time. See Section 8 below.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

6. Retention

We retain each category of personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with our legal obligations (including tax, DMV, and consumer-finance recordkeeping requirements), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by category and legal requirement.

7. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Know: request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share or sell personal information.
  • Right to Delete: request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: direct us not to sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: request that we limit our use of sensitive personal information to those uses necessary to provide the goods or services reasonably expected.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.
  • Right to Data Portability: receive a copy of the personal information we maintain about you in a portable, readily usable format.

How to exercise your rights: Submit a verifiable consumer request by calling us toll-free at (909) 404-8413 or by emailing privacy@metrohonda.com. We will need to verify your identity before responding. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf with written permission.

8. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. To opt out, please email privacy@metrohonda.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information," or call (909) 404-8413.

We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid opt-out request for the device and browser from which the signal is received.

9. California 'Shine the Light' Law (Civ. Code § 1798.83)

California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for those third parties' direct marketing purposes during the immediately preceding calendar year. To make such a request, please contact us using the information in Section 13.

10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure performance, and deliver relevant advertising. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

11. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where required by law, communicated to you directly.
